Welcome back everyone to a new term, it is hard to believe that we are already past the halfway point of the school year! I am excited to be back at school to work together to support the learning of all students across the school for the rest of the school year. This Term is packed full of opportunities for students that compliment classroom programs. Parent-teacher meetings will be held next week and are an opportunity to reflect on the learning journey of your child and foster the partnership between home and school. With reports sent home at the end of Term 2, we hope parents can use this time to clarify assessments and discuss their child’s development.
While formal parent-teacher meetings are held next week, please always feel welcome to make contact with your child’s teacher or me to discuss your child’s learning. We recognise that a strong partnership between home and school allows the development of every child to be maximised.

During the holidays we put up a Facebook post asking parents to share what students and their families had been doing throughout the holidays. We had a huge response to our post, from going to Melbourne to watch the Mighty Bombers, fishing, having visits from the tooth fairy, new braces, travelling around Australia, Dip Falls visits, relaxing at home, trips to the library and even new pets!
We hope everyone had a lovely break - thank you to those families who shared the above photos!

It has recently been reported by local residents that there have been numerous near misses as cars leaving the school via Dobson's Lane have not given way to through traffic. Dobson's Lane is a public road and vehicles leaving the school via this exit need to give way to traffic.
Residents have also reported that cars are being parked on the grass verges on the side of Dobson's Lane while parents are collecting children from school, which is increasing the danger for children who have to go onto the road to get into cars.
Parking on the sides of Dobson's Lane also restricts access by residents, farmers and the local fire brigade who all frequent this lane. It is also the only access to the Boat Harbour Fire Station, and it is important that vehicles do not hinder the brigade as they serve our community.
We thank you for your assistance in keeping our school community safe.
Bravehearts Keep Safe Adventure Education Program
Next Wednesday 31st July students from Kinder – Grade 4 will take part in a 35 minute personal Safety Education Program, The Ditto Show.

Topics covered during the session will include: yes/no feelings, the body’s warning signs, private parts and what to do if you feel unsafe or unsure. As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, the Grade 1-2 classes came together and began to explore the history of Tasmanian Aborigines. The children listened to an early childhood story, “Sorry Sorry”, while watching a visual representation of the story using a map of Tasmania. This provoked lots of thoughts and wonderings. Following this, they listened to the story ‘My Patch’ and were given an opportunity to draw a patch of land that is special to them. The children made connections between these 2 stories and discussed the different feelings they had about when the White People first came to Tasmania.
