NAIDOC Week
As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, the Grade 1-2 classes came together and began to explore the history of Tasmanian Aborigines. The children listened to an early childhood story, “Sorry Sorry”, while watching a visual representation of the story using a map of Tasmania. This provoked lots of thoughts and wonderings. Following this, they listened to the story ‘My Patch’ and were given an opportunity to draw a patch of land that is special to them. The children made connections between these 2 stories and discussed the different feelings they had about when the White People first came to Tasmania.
