Book Week
Book week is a wonderful time to celebrate reading and the world that books bring to us. Thank you to staff and students for making our assembly to celebrate Book Week so impressive. If all students can learn to read, and if they can enjoy and comprehend what they are reading, we know that we can open up so many opportunities for them in the future. Well done everyone!
Pre-Kinder
Our Pre-Kinder program will start in week 4, Term 4, and be held for 5 weeks. It will be held on Fridays, starting at 9:00am and finishing at 10:30am in the Kinder building. The first date is Friday, 8th November. Pre-Kinder is designed to help children be prepared for kinder, helping them become familiar with the Kinder environment, routines and expectations. If you are aware of any children turning 5 next year and that would like to attend Boat Harbour primary School, please encourage them to contact the School Office and collect an enrolment form.
Boat Harbour’s Got Talent
It was fantastic to see our students shine at Boat Harbour’s Got Talent this week. The courage shown by students to put themselves in the spotlight was inspiring. These students were not only talented, they were brave! They were leaders without even meaning to be. They inspired others by showing that it is more than OK to take a risk like this, that even though you might feel nervous or even a little scared, that trying new things helps us grow. We were all blown away by the level of confidence that students demonstrated. Our job as the adults in these student’s lives is to foster and encourage this. We want them to attack the future with courage and resilience, just like they demonstrated at the talent Show. Thank you to everyone that supported the event, $1300 was raised to help keep our playground clean and green. Thank you to Jimmy Dallas for cooking the BBQ and to Mrs Sharon Wilson for all her effort in the canteen. A fantastic event that highlighted the powerful connection that is embedded across our school community, thank you.
Father’s Day Breakfast
We hope to see as many Dads, Pops, Uncles, or anyone that is a father figure in a student’s life, come along to our Father’s Day Breakfast on Tuesday 3rd September, from 7:30am at our school. This is an opportunity to maybe drop into school on the way to work, stay for a bacon and egg muffin, visit classrooms, or have a kick of the footy. Our school choirs will be performing. We hope to see you there.

Students in 5/6 EE have been working on fractions in maths this term. We have incorporated their learning about unit fractions in spectacular, colourful artworks that are now decorating Menimbah.
The Operation Resilience program for primary school students, run by PCYC (Police Citizens Youth Clubs), focuses on building resilience and essential life skills in primary school-aged children. This program includes a variety of obstacles designed to enhance emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, social competencies, and communication skills.
Here are some reflective thoughts from 5/6S about their first of four sessions:
What was your favourite activity and why?
My favourite activity in PCYC was the cargo net because it consisted of a lot of teamwork, and it was fun climbing underneath the net – Oliver
My favourite activity was the tyre wall because I like climbing trees and rock walls - Poppy
My favourite activity at PCYC was the tyre swing because it was really fun to swing across - Kristy
What new skill or lesson did you learn during the session?
Teamwork and that there’s no ‘I’ in team – Jacob
How did you handle any challenges or conflicts that arose?
I found myself struggling to grab the tyre swing rope but with the help of my teammates I got across – Tommi
We encouraged them and helped our teammates as much as we could - Poppy
What is one thing you will do differently in the future because of what you learned last week?
Next time we need to work on sending certain people to do something and being more specific (with instructions) – Jim
I learned that we need to focus on our own team – Corey
I will try my absolute hardest to conquer my fears and to try my best at all the tasks - Tommi
How can you apply what you learned from the session to your everyday life?
Teamwork and communication we use in our everyday life – Ellie
Cows Create Careers Program
We are excited to announce our school's participation in the widely popular and free Cows Create Careers program, an initiative developed by Dairy Australia and facilitated by Jaydee Events. This engaging program brings the dairy industry directly into the classroom, providing students with hands-on learning experiences.
While traditionally aimed at high school students, our students have the unique opportunity to build both technical and transferable skills through this program. Over the course of three weeks, they will raise calves, participate in classroom activities, conduct industry research, and complete various projects and competitions.
The Cows Create Careers program offers a comprehensive exploration of the dairy industry. Students will learn about the Australian dairy industry, biosecurity, and its importance. They will also gain insights into farm technologies, such as computers and robotics, and explore sustainable farming practices, including the management of natural resources and environmental conservation. Additionally, students will be educated on farm safety, community well-being, and nutrition for both dairy cows and humans.
We are thrilled to have the support of our community, including parents and students, as we embark on this program. The excitement was palpable as students welcomed the opportunity to care for two beautiful calves, generously supplied by the University of Tasmania. Our two heifers, Lilly and Luna, have quickly become beloved members of our school.
This program would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our staff and students. We look forward to the valuable experiences and learning opportunities that lie ahead.
On Tuesday the 13th of August, all Grade 5/6 students attended the North West Primary School Sports Expo. Everyone got to choose a sport to participate in for the day and our school attended football, soccer, king of the court, tennis and basketball. We all had a great day learning new skills and meeting students from other schools. There was wonderful sportsmanship, participation and encouragement shown on the day. Here are some of our highlights:
I liked how we got to join teams with other schools, and they were all friendly and shared the ball with us – Hunter
I liked how they taught us the skills we needed before we played a game. They showed us technique and gave us tips for playing tennis – Lucy
Footy involved lots of running and kicking goals which was good – Remy
We got to join with Riana in footy and it was good to play with them and help some new players – Harry
It was challenging doing a sport that I hadn’t played before - Billie
We would like to extend an invitation to all those who are the Father figure's in their childs life to a Father's Day Breakfast on Tuesday 3rd of September.
