Cows Create Careers Program
Cows Create Careers Program
We are excited to announce our school's participation in the widely popular and free Cows Create Careers program, an initiative developed by Dairy Australia and facilitated by Jaydee Events. This engaging program brings the dairy industry directly into the classroom, providing students with hands-on learning experiences.
While traditionally aimed at high school students, our students have the unique opportunity to build both technical and transferable skills through this program. Over the course of three weeks, they will raise calves, participate in classroom activities, conduct industry research, and complete various projects and competitions.
The Cows Create Careers program offers a comprehensive exploration of the dairy industry. Students will learn about the Australian dairy industry, biosecurity, and its importance. They will also gain insights into farm technologies, such as computers and robotics, and explore sustainable farming practices, including the management of natural resources and environmental conservation. Additionally, students will be educated on farm safety, community well-being, and nutrition for both dairy cows and humans.
We are thrilled to have the support of our community, including parents and students, as we embark on this program. The excitement was palpable as students welcomed the opportunity to care for two beautiful calves, generously supplied by the University of Tasmania. Our two heifers, Lilly and Luna, have quickly become beloved members of our school.
This program would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our staff and students. We look forward to the valuable experiences and learning opportunities that lie ahead.
