Each week, at BHPS we have a whole school meeting where we discuss important messages, celebrate successes and introduce a whole school weekly focus. This year, we are using the Department of Education’s core values of:
Aspiration – a culture of high expectation and high achievement
Courage – accepting challenges and embracing opportunities
Growth – improving by always learning and finding better ways to do things
Respect – respecting ourselves, others, our past and our environment
The value we have been focussing on this week is Respect. Students have had the opportunity to discuss this in more detail in the classrooms and discussions have been robust, enabling our students to deepen their understanding of these values. It has been rewarding to see students reflecting on their own behaviour and displaying a more positive attitude towards all members of the BHPS school community.
Next week, our Senior and Junior Choirs will be performing at the Burnie Eisteddfod. We would like to wish all students participating good luck. Thank you to Mrs Janet Matic, Miss Tash Turner and Mrs Lydia Long for working with and preparing our students for their performances.
Our end of term assembly will be held on Thursday, 4th July at 11.10am. We look forward to seeing our choirs perform and celebrating the achievements our students have made this term.
Our students show creativity in many ways. This week, it has been a pleasure to see these talents shown through students becoming ‘Lego Masters’ as part of Brixhibition. If you haven’t already come in to see this wonderful display, please do so before the end of school this Friday.

Congratulations Bo and Georgia on your outstanding achievement.

Children will leave school at 8:40am on the bus and return to school by 12:00pm. All choir members are asked to meet Miss Turner and Miss Nicholls at 8:30am in the hall ready to catch the bus. Children will need to take their bags with a snack and drink inside to have at the Civic Centre.

All choir members are expected to be neatly dressed in their winter school uniform, consisting of a clean short sleeved school maroon polo shirt (jumpers/jackets will be taken off to perform). Girls will need a school skirt with white socks or grey stockings, and boys will need grey school trousers/pants. Shoes should be clean, preferably black. Long black pants are acceptable for both girls and boys.
There is no cost for your child but if you wish to be in the audience at the Arts & Function Centre there will be an entry fee of $5.00 per adult, $2.00 per child over 4 to be paid to the Eisteddfod Society on the day.
A reminder that no cameras or videos are to be used at the Centre or a disqualification of that school choir could occur.

On Sunday, 16th of June a small group of Boat Harbour Primary School students represented Wynyard in the Under 10s and Under 8s 2019 Auskick Carnival held in Zeehan. Under 10s played 3 games and under 8s played 4. All boys did their club and school proud, and showed great sportsmanship.
“I found the game difficult because there were lots of bigger players that played at a high standard, but I still enjoyed the experience.” Harry, Grade 2
“I kicked a long goal, and scored 6 points for Wynyard!” Sam, Grade 2
“When I kicked goals, my team cheered.” Lex, Grade 2
The Ticket To Play initiative provides students whose parents/guardians/carers have a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with a voucher of up to $100 to pay for registration/membership of an approved activity provider/sports club. Visit the link below for more information.
