After a busy start to the school year, the end of term is upon us! Some of the highlights have included our Athletics Carnival, NWPSSA Athletics Carnival, Harmony Day activities, PCYC, Grandparents' Day, and today's Grade 3-4 excursion to Launceston.
It has been great to see parents, family and community members helping to support our students and being part of these activities.
Garage Sale
Last week we held a garage sale to sell off unwanted furniture and equipment. Some of our community members also ran stalls. Thank you to our Parents and Friends for organising the sausage sizzle and assisting with sales. Monies raised to date is approximately $450.
Assembly
Yesterday, our SRC co-ordinated the end of term assembly. Well done to those students who showed excellent leadership skills in presenting in front of the school community. Students' work this term was highlighted through presentations including the art frames, Robotics Program and class items. Congratulations to those students who received recognition for their outstanding efforts this term.

Staffing
Mr Brown is currently on leave for the next 5 weeks. He would like you all to know that he is finally getting to say goodbye to “the boot”. He is currently excited to be in Sydney having his foot and lower leg amputated, enabling him to get on with his life pain free. He is looking forward to getting back to school early in Term 2.
In his stead, Miss Moore will be Acting Principal and Mrs Eiszele will be taking on further AST duties. Mrs Donaghue will be teaching in Bilbies full time during this period.
Mrs Wilson will be taking Long Service Leave for 4 weeks. Mrs Evetts will be teaching in Prep Joeys Mondays - Wednesdays in her absence.
We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday, and we look forward to seeing you in Term 2!
Parents & Friends Fundraising Group Meeting
We would love to see some new faces, and get some new ideas to help raise money for our students.

In History, 1-2 Koalas, 1-2 Bilbies, and 1-2 Quolls have been learning about leisure time activities that our grandparents may have played in the past. Mrs Morgan’s class taught us how to play some of these games, so we decided to invite our grandparents/special elders in to join us for games and afternoon tea.
First, we all gathered outside and welcomed our grandparents to our lovely school. Mrs Eiszele read a special story about a button tin, and Mrs Bentley had brought her own tin in to share.
Then, we had a chance to share with our grandparents some special games that they used to play. The skipping rope was a big hit, and even some of our grandparents had a go!
Next, we offered our special visitors a nice cup of tea or coffee with an ANZAC biscuit on the side. We made the biscuits with the help of Mrs Bowers. They thought they were very tasty.
Lastly, some of the grandparents shared their special game with everyone. Mia and Jovi’s Ma Ma had a creepy doll that was about 150 years old! Ashley’s Granny showed us her beautiful handkerchief. Corey and Hope’s Nan had her old cash register that still made noises, and Ollie’s Pop explained how to play marbles for keeps, or for fun.
We were so happy to have our grandparents come to share the afternoon with us because it doesn’t happen very often. Our special photos that Mrs Baker took will be treasured forever! By 1-2 Koalas
Students interviewed their grandparents and wrote a newspaper article about them.
On Thursday 25th April, Boat Harbour Primary School students, families and staff members are invited to take part in the ANZAC Day Parade and service in Wynyard. Students wishing to participate in the parade will need to wear full school uniform and meet Mr Groenewege and Mrs Eiszele at the bottom roundabout (opposite Save a Buck) at 10.30am. We particularly encourage our SRC representatives to attend. Our students will lay a wreath at the service commencing at the Cenotaph at 11.00am. Students can be collected from the Cenotaph at the end of the service.

The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) encourages students from Prep to Year 6 to read 10 books in 10 weeks and can be integrated with existing classroom reading programs, i.e. Reading Rules or Home Readers. Students can negotiate with their teachers or at home to have a large chapter book counted as being more than one book.
The challenge this year starts on Monday, 29th April and finishes Friday, 5th July. Log books will be given to the students on the first day back in Term 2 and can be kept at school or at home. When students have completed the challenge, they can return their log books to either the library or their class teacher.
Our school has registered all students from Prep to Year 6 for the challenge.
Happy reading!

Recently, Bo, Angie, Aylah, Morgan, Alyssa and myself were lucky enough to participate in the Under 13s roster for the Wynyard Football Club. We all tried our best and gained a lot of new skills. We were lucky enough to meet Emma Humphries who plays for the North Melbourne AFLW team. A lot of fun was had by all.

Thank you to everyone that has supported us by collecting Earn and Learn stickers when grocery shopping and sending them into school.
We are still tallying up the final amount of stickers, at our last count two weeks ago we had 40,000 and therefore have smashed our goal of 50,000! Well done everyone.
All the stickers go towards purchasing resources for our school.
Well done to both our BHPS Purple and BHPS Blue netball teams who have had a great start to the season. A big thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help where they can.
There will be no netball this Saturday or throughout the school holidays. Netball will recommence on Saturday, 4th May.
We will see everyone in Term 2!
The behaviour of people on the sidelines of junior sport can have a profound impact on kids' participation and enjoyment of sport. More information can be found here: https://
Let's continue to make sport fun for our kids!
