Breakfast Club
The Rocky Cape Family Church have generously donated $1500 to our school Breakfast Club. This is massive, as it ensures that we have the ability to provide breakfast to students across the school well into the future. We would like to extend a massive thank you to the Rocky Cape Family Church for their support, and helping students have a nourishing breakfast whenever needed.
Surveys
Thank you to those people that have completed the parent survey. Grade 4 – 6 students have also completed student surveys about their experiences at school. Staff have done the same. The information gathered from these surveys will inform us of strengths and weaknesses across our school. This will intern guide our priorities moving forward. The challenge we will embrace is to maintain and extend things that are going well and improve and address those that aren’t.
If you would still like to participate in the parent survey, please follo the link below.

Recently in Grade 1, we have mixed up our handwriting lessons and have been using finger flashlights to develop our letter and number formation. We turned off the lights, turned on the interactive whiteboard and traced over each number as it appeared on the screen. We had a blast whilst forgetting that we were actually practising a very important skill!
Science in Kinder
This term in Kinder we have been learning about living things. We investigated the life cycle of frogs, leafy stick insects and plants. We have discussed the basic needs of all living things, with a big focus on plants. We have had lots of fun planting our own bean plants and grass heads and observing how they have changed over time.
Our Prep students have been busy delving into the exciting world of toys that move! Through hands-on activities and engaging experiments, they've explored the ways different toys move such as zoom, spin, and bounce. From robots and monster trucks to rolling balls and dolls, our students are discovering the science behind motion and are having a blast while doing it.
Grade 4's at Wings Wildlife Farm
Wings Wildlife Park Excursion
Our Year 4 students recently went on an eagerly anticipated excursion to Wings Wildlife Park, where they had the chance to learn about both Australian native animals and exotic species from around the world. The wildlife keepers shared fascinating facts about the animals, their habitats, and their diets. This excursion complemented the students' Geography studies, where they have been learning about the significance of the environment to native plants and animals. The visit to Wings Wildlife Park highlighted the importance of understanding how native animals thrive in specific environments, as well as the threats they face and the conservation efforts to protect them.
The students had the exciting opportunity to interact with several native animals, including wombats, Tasmanian devils, and koalas. One of the highlights was being able to get up close and personal with a baby Tasmanian devil—a rare and memorable experience. They also had the chance to meet Wally the Wombat and Blinky the Koala. Blinky is one of only two koalas in Tasmania, making this encounter especially unique and special for the students.
In addition to native animals, the students were introduced to a variety of exotic species, such as American bison, black-tufted capuchins, macaws, capybaras, common marmosets, ostriches, and the ever-popular meerkats. The guide provided engaging and informative insights into each of these animals.
The students also enjoyed seeing and interacting with farm animals, including alpacas, boer goats, camels, deer, llamas, miniature donkeys, and miniature horses. There were plenty of reptiles to observe, along with smaller animals to explore.
Despite the wet weather, the students had an enjoyable and educational day, gaining a deeper appreciation for the incredible diversity of wildlife at Wings Wildlife Park.
Grade 3 & 4 - RACT Road Safety Program
RACT Road Safety Program
Our Year 3 and 4 students recently participated in the RACT RoadSafe Program; a locally developed initiative designed to address road safety issues specific to Tasmania. The program aligns with the Years 3 and 4 Band of the Australian Curriculum for Health and Physical Education, as well as Civics and Citizenship.
The RoadSafe program offers a range of interactive and online resources that students can engage with individually, in small groups, or as a class. The hour-long session allowed students to access fun and engaging materials while completing four key learning modules.
In the first module, students learned how to be safe pedestrians. They explored strategies for staying safe when catching a bus, crossing the road, or navigating carparks. The second module focused on being a safe passenger, both in cars and on buses. Students were taught the importance of seat belts, safe entry and exit from vehicles, and how to support drivers in ensuring everyone's safety.
The third module introduced students to road safety signs, signals, and rules. They learned to recognize various road signs, understand their meanings, and the rules all road users must follow. Finally, in the fourth module, students focused on safely riding bikes and scooters. They covered the importance of safety gear, learned where it’s safe to ride, and gained an understanding of road-sharing rules to become responsible riders.
Students who completed all the modules and achieved 100% in the accompanying quizzes were awarded RACT RoadSafe certificates in recognition of their effort and achievement.
In 3D, we have started looking at procedural texts. We identified different types of procedural texts such as recipes, DIY instructions and game instructions. As part of our learning, we have been practicing giving clear, verbal instructions. We put our skills to the test when we created board games for the Kinder students to practice numbers 1-10. Students really enjoyed the opportunity to teach the Kinders the rules of their games and had fun designing and playing them!
