Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent teacher meetings will be held in Week 9 this term. This is an opportunity to discuss your child’s learning with their teacher and hear about their progress and future focus. You will be able to book meeting times via the schoolzine app. You will also collect your child’s mid-year report at this meeting. Teachers are looking forward to having the chance to meet with you.
Gumboots WANTED!
Recently our School Association and Fundraising Committee generously purchased wet-weather overalls for our Kinders. These have been fantastic! They are allowing our Kinders to play outside without the worry of getting dirty and wet, however we are still having the issue of wet shoes. If you have any gumboots at home that no longer fit or used and you are happy to donate to our school we would be extremely grateful. Thank you in advance for your generosity :)

Bo
Sadly last year we lost Forest our school dog. She was a much loved pet, and anyone that has ever had a pet pass away would understand the difficult time this can bring. After nearly 12 months we can now welcome our new school dog Bo. She is Golden Retriever pup that is bringing many smiles to the faces at school. There is a lot of research indicating the benefits of school dogs, ranging from reading, regulating, anxiety release, separation issues, behaviour control, pet responsibilities and more. Bo spends time in classes across the school each week. I look forward to watching Bo grow with our students.
At our recent Assembly the following students were awarded with one of the 4 School Values - Respect, Growth, Aspiration or Courage.

What is a School Association?
The School Association is made up of the parents, staff and community members of a school. School Associations exist for each Tasmanian Government School, including primary schools, high schools, district schools and colleges. The School Association is an important part of the school, working with the Principal to achieve shared outcomes for learners attending the school and for the benefit of the whole school community. Membership of the School Association provides a forum for the sharing of knowledge and skills. The purpose of the School Association is to provide members with a way to participate and support the school.
Being part of a School Association is one way of being engaged and involved in the school.
The Boat Harbour Primary School Association AGM will be held on Thursday 8th June at 6:15pm.
Why become a member?
- A vibrant and collaborative way to contribute to the school.
- A great way to be informed.
- An effective way to share your ideas.
- Opportunity to be a voice for the broader school community.
- A productive way to build a strong school community.
- To contribute to student learning.
If you would like any more information or are interested in joining, please call the school on 6445 1187 to speak with Mr Brown.
In the 3/4 space, classes have participated in HASS and science rotations. Each class spent 3 weeks working on a new HASS or science topic before rotating to a new teacher and topic.
With Mr G, students looked at the differences between Boat Harbour now and then along with the changes in technology and dance over time.
In Mr Doña’s class, students learnt about the life cycle of living things such as tomato plants and bees.
With Miss Dunham, students investigated rules, laws and consequences. Students got the opportunity to create their own law and justify why they thought it was important.
Grade 3-4 - Amanda Cox and Mim Zariffa Workshop
In Term 1, Amanda Cox and Mim Zariffa ran a workshop with our students.
Amanda and Mim produced a series of children’s books that aim to embrace and celebrate the uniqueness of each child. I have read the books to the students, but it was a wonderful experience to have the author read to the students.
Following reading the book, Mim ran a drawing session with the students. She showed the students what it takes to paint a character. Students gasp for air as they found out that an eye on one of the characters can take 3-4 hours. Students learned very valuable drawing and colouring techniques. We are hoping to have Amanda and Mim back for a second session.
