Swimming
It is wonderful to have our Kinder to Grade 2 participating in swimming at the moment. Building water awareness in our children is essential, particularly given the environment we live in. Our community is surrounded with dams, rivers, creeks and the coastline – swimming safety and awareness assists our students in being safe within our community. Students have enjoyed the opportunity to swim and have demonstrated enthusiasm and growth over the past two weeks.
Our Grade 3 – 5 students will soon participate in their swimming programs at the Burnie pool. These students have an opportunity to develop their swimming and water skills at their level, accessing swimming teachers that will assist their growth.
Camp
Our Grade 6 students travelled around the State last week while on their camp. Students visited many activities and learning opportunities, laughed, made new friendships and grew together. Congratulations to all students for making the camp a massive success. The feedback from the public and providers about our students was excellent. Some even going to the effort of emailing our school to highlight the exceptional behaviour and manners our students exhibited. Well done everyone.
Thank you Mr G, Miss Nicholls, Mrs Wilson and Miss Hayes for attending camp and making it all possible, you are very appreciated!
Assemblies
Our mid-term assemblies will be held next Thursday, 17th November. Kinder - Grade 2 begins at 9:15am, the 3-6 (including 2-3W) will begin at 11:15am. Assemblies are a fantastic opportunity to showcase learning and celebrate student achievements. We hope to see you there.
On Monday at 8:15am we started our trip to Launceston. Our first visit along the way was Cataract Gorge. We first went on a walk to check out the flood and then some of us went on the chair lift. We then went to Riverbend park for lunch and had a bit of a play, afterwards we got onto the bus and drove a bit longer to the Launceston Aquatic Centre and they opened up the water slide just for us! That night we stayed at the Penny Royal Leisure Inn. It was a bit creepy as most of us heard creaks.
The next morning, we left for breakfast at 7:30am to have a questionable breakfast of waffles, bacon and ice cream drowned in maple syrup. At 9:30am we ended up at Hollybanks Tree Tops Adventure! There were many different courses to go on but we went on the rope course with 5 different courses of Rosella Rush (green), Brumby Run (blue) Tassie Two Step (blue) and Turbo Chook (red). There was a black course but pretty much all of us were to young to go on it.
We then headed off to Hobart but on our way we dropped into Ross' Bakery for lunch. We continued to Hobart, when we arrived at River Front motel we got sorted into our rooms by the sorting hat (not actually) then we had a bit of a break and also got ready for dinner. For dinner we had a beef schnitzel with salad. After dinner we went bowling!!! We left bowling at 9 and went to bed at 9:30pm.
On Wednesday we went on a long drive to Port Arthur, had a small tour and then went on a small cruise there to see different parts of it we couldn’t reach by foot. Then we went to the Unzoo which was luckily only a few minutes away. We got to pet some kangaroos and go on a small tour to see the tassie devils and some birds.
On Thursday we went to Bounce and Eastlands Shopping Centre. At Bounce some of us went on the rock-climbing section and the obstacle course. There were 2 diving boards and a trampoline that lands into a massive air pillow. There were 2 trampoline sections a dodgeball bit and a normal trampoline. Bounce was fun. After Bounce we went shopping and we went to Big W first then we got split up into groups. A lot of boys got nerf guns and some people got a speaker and we stayed up really late.
On Friday we went to breakfast then packed up heading on our way to school. We stopped in Hobart to play mini golf. We split up into groups of four and played mini golf. Some people played mini golf inside or we played it outside. People said it was harder outside because there were more hills and harder to get in the hole. After mini golf we headed back to school. It was a very long drive back to school. We stopped at some shops to get drinks, soon after we were back on the road. Many people fell asleep so Miss Nicholls was happy because she got photos. We got back to school at 5:45pm, 15 minutes after we planned.

Students in Prep-1C have loved taking a special ‘book bag’ home to fill with their most favourite book to bring back and share with their classmates. This sharing opportunity has encouraged confidence, developed more effective communication and questioning skills and supported them to express their own preferences for texts while listening to the opinions of others.
Prep/1 Skellington have been learning about informative texts. We have explored fiction and non-fiction texts types and learned the differences between facts and opinions. We have started writing our own informative texts about our favourite animals.
This term we entered in the Wild at Art competition which is about Australian native endangered animals. Kids from all over Australia entered in the competition. It isn’t just an art competition. Firstly, we had to draw a picture of our chosen endangered animal, then we had to research facts about it on the web. Next, we had to complete a fact file information report. Lastly, we typed it up and printed it out. Mrs Evetts entered our artwork and our information reports in the Wild at Art competition. We are excited to find out the winners next month.
