Happy Holidays
This is our last newsletter for Term 3. As we head towards the school holidays I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break. I can’t wait to embrace Term 4, enjoying a strong finish to the end of the school year. Don’t forget that Term 4 will bring warmth and sun with some bite, so school hats will be required by all once again.
Is your child interested in playing in the school's cricket roster in Term 4? Games will be played on Friday afternoons starting at 3:45pm. The roster will begin on 25th October and finish on 22nd November.

Unfortunately we have had quite a few cases of headlice, especially within our upper primary students. Above is an information flyer on what to look for and how to treat headlice. Please check your child/ren's hair.
If your child does have headlice please notify the school so that we can notify class teachers and parents to try and eradicate reinfestation.
Cross Country & SRC Footy Colours Day
Tomorrow is Footy Colours Day and also cross country. Students are welcome to come dressed in their house colours or their favourite footy team colours for a gold coin donation. After the cross country has finished parents are welcome to stay around and play in a game of Students v Adults AFL.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CROSS COUNTRY...............
Our Cross Country will be held this Friday, 20th September.
Prep - Grade 2 students will commence straight after recess at 11:00am and Grades 3-6 will commence at 11:30am.
We do ask that all students, Prep - Grade 6, pack a complete set of spare clothes in their schoolbag, including underwear and socks. The school has limited spare clothing if a child falls over and gets wet.
Please ensure that the clothing worn by students tomorrow is appropriate for them to run the cross country in, regardless of whether they wear their footy colours or house colours.
If it is poor weather on Friday the cross country will be postponed until next Friday, 27th September. The SRC Footy Colours Day will go ahead regardless of the weather.
Gymnastics
This term all classes have been working through a unit on gymnastics and circus skills. Within each lesson, activities involved the dominant movement patterns of landing, statics, locomotion, rotation and springing. Each lesson has a strong emphasis on confident body management, with an integral part of the children’s interaction with each other being to follow and adhere to safety considerations.
5-6 Sports Day
All Grade 5 and 6 students participated in the NWPSSA sports day with other schools in the area. They had a choice to participate in either soccer, hockey, netball, football, basketball, tennis, modified volleyball or cricket. As some schools couldn’t field complete teams and others may have had excess, there were several combined teams to allow everyone to fully participate. From the sports of soccer, hockey, netball and football, children were then selected to participate in the Darwin (Burnie) versus Devon (Devonport) sports day. From this event, a team selection was made to play in Launceston.
Congratulations to the below students who were selected for the Darwin-Devon and the Launceston Exchange teams. An outstanding effort from all.
Launceston Exchange:
Cross Country
The term will culminate with the cross country event for all children. Long-distance running is challenging and for this reason, the primary children can nominate to run the medal event (two laps) or fun run (one lap) to allow all children to participate at a level at which they feel confident. All participants from Prep to Grade 6 then earn house points to determine the winning house.

The RFDS Mobile Dental team will be visiting our school again this year in Term 4. They will here from Monday 18th November to possibly the end of the school year depending on how many students wish to see them.
Students are invited to take part in a free dental program. Includes: dental check-up, oral hygiene, fluoride varnish, fissure sealants and fillings as required.
The RFDS team set up here at school and can collect students from their classroom saving parents time off work, etc. if they are busy, although parents are more than welcome to attend the appointments if they wish.
The RFDS will be set up in the old AST office down near the Canteen and will be here on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
If you would like your child to have a free dental check-up the RFDS require a signed "Child Consent to Treat" form by a parent/guardian. Forms were sent home to each child last week and can also be printed using the link below. All forms need to be returned to school by Friday, 1st November in order for the RFDS to schedule appointments.
The Tasmanian Schools Triathlon Schools Challenge for Grades 3 - 6 students will be held on Thursday, 28th November, 2019 at Devonport (Devonport Bluff). The Schools Triathlon is aimed at giving students an opportunity to try something new, and no rankings are given to support beginners of the event.
Students can collect an entry form from the office and return it to school no later than Friday 20th September 2019 along with the $25 entry money.
