From the Acting Principal

Yesterday, we held the first assembly for this term. Thank you to the 1-2 Quolls for coordinating this assembly, you certainly did yourselves proud. It was terrific to see the amazing work that has been happening in classrooms and I would like to congratulate all students on their achievements thus far this term.

We would like to welcome back to Mrs Jan Radford who will be taking some of our classes for PE on Mondays. This term we also have Miss Elizabeth Snell who is a practising teacher from the Edith Cowan University. Miss Snell will be working with Miss Nicholls and 5-6 Numbats for the remainder of the term.

At BHPS, we are very fortunate to have a wonderful Music program. Our junior and senior choir rehearsals are underway in preparation for the Burnie Eisteddfod and next Thursday we will be having Zeeko from Musica Viva performing. In the coming weeks, Jon Madden will be returning to work with our Early Childhood students. Jon Madden is a musician who makes his own instruments and we look forward to him sharing his creativity and musical talents with our students.

NAPLAN
Congratulations to all Grade 3 and 5 students on completing NAPLAN Online. Students are to be commended for their efforts in completing tests online. We were lucky that we only experienced very minor technical glitches and that our students completed tests successfully. Thank you to our primary teaching staff for their organisation and coordinating of these tests. We look forward to seeing the results in due course.

Asthma and Anaphylaxis
Yesterday, staff attended a training session held by the Asthma Foundation to inform of the correct processes and procedures when assisting students with Asthma and Anaphylaxis. It is a requirement that all students with Asthma and/or Anaphylaxis have a current medical action plan. This a timely reminder to check that your child’s medication is in date and is sent to school daily. Please see our office staff to check and update your child’s medical action plans.
