Principal's Report

Assemblies
It was fantastic to celebrate student learning and achievements in our assemblies on Tuesday.  First term has flown past, with so many opportunities for our students to extend themselves and develop.  The assemblies highlighted students who have showcased our school and Department values of Respect, Aspiration, Courage and Growth.  To see students exhibiting these values is demonstrating that students are being their best and giving themselves every opportunity to learn.  Thank you to those parents and friends that were able to attend, your children love being able to celebrate achievements with you.  The music items shared under the control of Mrs Matic were again a highlight, highlighting the creativity and skills of our students.

Student Free Day
Teachers today worked hard collaboratively to moderate student work.  This ensures that there is consistency across classes and schools in the way student work is assessed.  This process also helps identify what else teachers can do to support student growth, and informs their teaching practice.

Staffing
Heading into Term 2 there are some staffing changes at Boat Harbour Primary School.  We welcome back Mrs Baly who has been away during Term 1.  Miss Moore remains on leave in Term 2 meaning that Miss Wescombe will continue to be the classroom teacher on 1-2H. Mrs Sally Wilson joined our staff at the beginning of the year and will continue with us in Term 2.  Correspondence about any staffing changes will be sent home during the holidays and an opportunity to meet about any changes early in Term 2.

Safe holidays
It was fantastic to have parents and grandparents in our school helping children create their Easter bonnets.  To have partnerships strengthened in this way is a wonderful support for students.  We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter and holiday break!  Enjoy time with family and we look forward to having everyone return to school at the beginning of Term 2 refreshed and ready for learning.
