Principal's Report

Athletics
33 students represented Boat Harbour Primary School at the North West State Schools Athletics Carnival in Penguin last week.  Our students competed against the best runners in the North West in both sprints and long distance events.  I could not have been more proud of the determination and sportsmanship demonstrated by every student representing our school, with maximum effort always on display.  The first event was the 800m, with Harry Gatenby winning this event convincingly making him the North West Champion – a fantastic achievement Harry!  Throughout the carnival students participated in heats for events with many students making the semi-finals.  Some students had excellent results in these events qualifying them for the finals, which were held in Penguin at a Twilight Carnival on Tuesday this week.  Congratulations to Leo Taylor, Jake Harris, Bryce McNab, Indi Winter and William Elphinstone for making the finals for your events.  Congratulations to Jake Harris for coming third in the 200m and just missing a place in the 100m.

Reading
It was fantastic to see so many students recognised for achieving their latest reading rules levels in our morning meeting this week.  These students are presented with certificates and it was sensational to see the stage full with students being recognised for their efforts.  Students reading at home with family is an excellent way for parents to foster a love of reading with their child, while also supporting their development and consolidating their learning.  Keep up the great work everyone!

Assemblies
On Tuesday 30th March we will be holding our end of Term assemblies.  The Primary (Grade 3 – 6) assembly will be held at 11:15am and the Early Childhood (Kinder – Grade 2) assembly will be held at 1:30pm.  Due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements we request that each child has only one parent or friend attend.  Thank you in advance for your understanding, we look forward to celebrating student learning and achievement with you at the assemblies.

Easter
It has been a tradition at Boat Harbour Primary School for many years for the Rocky Cape Church to share with our students the Easter Story. We have an important role in educating our children about world religions and cultural customs.

The goal of this service is to introduce students to the story and help them understand the influence it has had on history, literature, art and music.

If you would like your child not to participate in this please contact their teacher, the school office or myself.  Students that do not participate in the Easter Service will be supervised in another area of the school by teachers continuing their learning.
