Principal's Report
Reconciliation Week
This week we celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2020 and in doing so I want to acknowledge and pay respect to Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional and original owners of this land and acknowledge Tasmanian Aboriginal Elders past, present and emerging.
The theme for National Reconciliation week this year is “We are all in this together” which is very appropriate in these Covid – 19 times. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) started as the Week of Prayer for Reconciliation in 1993 (the International Year of the World’s Indigenous Peoples).
In 1996, the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation launched Australia’s first NRW. In 2000, Reconciliation Australia was established to continue to provide national leadership on reconciliation. In the same year, approximately 300,000 people walked across Sydney Harbour Bridge as part of NRW, to show their support for reconciliation.
Student Wellbeing
Student wellbeing underpins the growth and learning of every student. Clear communication between home and school is critical to achieving this. Individuals have been able to process recent changes faced by all across our community in different ways. It has been fantastic to have students return to school, their genuine excitement to be reconnect with friends and teachers has been refreshing and a welcome back to a piece of normality. Hygiene and physical distancing has assisted your school in being a safe place to be. Over the coming weeks as your child gets back into the routine of school, please communicate with teachers anything that would help us best support your child.
