Principals Report

Art Exhibition

The Boat Harbour Primary School Art Exhibition was opened this week. The Exhibition presents the vast array of artistic talents across our school, highlighting the passion and enthusiasm for art from students of all ages. Thank you to the many parents and grandparents that attended the opening, you helped make this occasion a highlight for many of our students. Ellie McDonald, Ella Snare and Akira Wilson, spoke about why art is important to them and what they loved about art. These students spoke about how art helps them express themselves, encourages creativity and how it allows their imagination to flow freely. These students highlighted the importance of events like this in our school, and they did an outstanding job in opening our 2025 Art Exhibition.

A massive thank you to all staff for presenting student work in such a professional and exemplary standard. Staff provide a safe and encouraging environment for students to try new things and provide opportunities for them to become confident and creative learners.

Assembly

Our assembly this week was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate student achievement. We are proud of our students that continually showcase our school Values, and it was fantastic to acknowledge these students at Tuesday’s assembly. Mr Paul Harding, the principal at Wynyard High School, also presented certificates to students that have been attending the High School to access specialised STEM and Drama learning opportunities. It is wonderful to have our students challenging themselves at the High School, accessing expert and extended learning.

Reading

Each week we recognise students for achieving a variety of different reading levels. At this week’s assembly a number of students achieved the 200 reading rules level – what an excellent effort! Thank you parents that give their time to read with their child at home. Every little bit extra that they read helps them become fluent readers that comprehend what they are reading – and this helps open up the world for them.

Representative Sport

Congratulations Stephanie Marijic, Toi Williams, Ella Snare, Angel Gilliland, Tarik Mac Donald and Maci Reid for making the North West representative teams to play the North in your chosen sport. Your commitment to training, travel and impressive teamwork is a credit to you. We wish you all the best in your games and look forward to hearing about your experience – good luck!

Surveys

Thank you to those people that have been able to complete our parent surveys recently. Your feedback assists us in forming our pathway forward, allowing us to understand what we need to continue and what we could do differently. If you haven’t yet completed the survey, I encourage you to take a few minutes to complete it and to help form the direction of the school moving forward.
