Principal Report

Farewell Mrs Lois Hutchison

We wish Mrs Hutchison all the very best as she enters retirement and the next chapter of her life. Lois has had a long-standing commitment to our school and has been a valued member of the Boat Harbour Primary family for many years. We are incredibly fortunate to be located in such a beautiful setting, and the pride Lois has taken in maintaining our school grounds to such a high standard has made a lasting impact. Lois is known for her willingness to do anything that is needed and her generous spirit in helping others, whether it was lending a hand to staff, supporting students, or quietly stepping in wherever she was needed. Her hard work, care, and connection to our school community will be deeply missed. We thank her sincerely and wish her all the best for a happy and fulfilling retirement.

Student Free Day, Reports & Parent Teacher Meetings

Today, our teachers joined their colleagues from schools along the coast to moderate student work samples and ensure consistency in expectations and assessment against the Australian Curriculum.

Many valuable conversations were had, focusing on aligning assessment practices and strengthening shared understandings of student achievement. These professional discussions play a key role in ensuring fair and accurate reporting.

In recent weeks, teachers have been busily preparing each student’s Evidence of Learning and assessments aligned with the Australian Curriculum. This process is informed by a wide range of sources, including classwork, observations, assessments, and student conversations.

At the end of Week 8, student reports and Evidence of Learning will be sent home for all students from Prep to Grade 6.

The following week, we will be holding Parent-Teacher Meetings. This is a valuable opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher, discuss their learning journey, and celebrate their progress.

We strongly encourage all families to take part in these conversations to stay informed and engaged in their child’s education. Bookings for parent teachers will be available via Schoolzine next week. A notification will be sent when open.

Cross Country

Thank you to everyone who attended our recent Assembly and Cross Country.

Our students love having the opportunity to share their work and achievements with their families and the wider school community. All children gave their best effort and displayed wonderful sportsmanship, cheering each other on as they crossed the finish line. The focus of the day was on participation, encouraging everyone to have a go and do their best. It was fantastic to see all students embracing this spirit.

Farm Land Advisory Group

Our Farm Land Advisory Group will be meeting again on Tuesday evening to continue discussing the future possibilities for our school farm land. We’re looking to draw on the expertise and experience within our school community to help shape a vision that supports student learning, community engagement, and long-term sustainability. If you’re available, we’d love for you to come along and join the conversation as we explore the opportunities ahead.
