Exciting new program for the North and North West Coast, supported through the Tasmanian Community Fund to provide volunteers in our schools.
This program has been effectively changing lives for over 25 years, operating across Australia.
EdConnect source, train, and support volunteers to go into the school setting, under the supervision of a teacher, with the focus on literacy and numeracy in Tasmania.
EdConnect offer support in partnership with the school so the volunteer can be effective and enhance the students learning and well-being, which is achieved through our Learning Support Program. Volunteers commit to 1 hour per week during School Terms, supporting the same teacher and classroom each week.
Mentoring is another component of EdConnect but is not offered in Tasmania at this stage.
Our aspiration for Tasmania is to have 20 schools partnering with EdConnect over the next 5 years. This will equate to 176 volunteers supporting 6552 Children.
Our current partnership schools are:
Cooee Primary
East Ulverstone Primary
Hillcrest Primary
Devonport High.
