Principal Report
NAPLAN
Well done to our Grade 3 and 5 students who recently participated in NAPLAN! This year, we encountered several technical issues in the administration and platform used for the assessment, and our students demonstrated remarkable perseverance and resilience while troubleshooting and navigating these challenges.
NAPLAN data provides a snapshot of student performance on a single day. We use this alongside many other forms of evidence to make an informed judgment about your child's progress and how best to support their learning moving forward.
As always, please feel welcome to make contact and discuss your child's progress and learning with us.
Grade 6 Camp
Our Grade 6 students have just returned from camp after an action-packed week, first in Hobart and then in Launceston. They did an outstanding job representing our school, demonstrating respect, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the experience.
Camp is a fantastic opportunity for students to step outside their comfort zones, develop independence, and strengthen friendships. Through shared experiences, challenges, and adventures, they build resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of collaboration. This experience helps shape a cohesive Grade 6 cohort that supports one another and works well together as they prepare for their final year of primary school.
We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to offer a camp experience like this, which provides such valuable learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to the staff who made this camp possible. A special thank you to Miss Wescombe, Miss Smith, Mrs Wilson, and Mr Groenowege for giving up their time and making this memorable experience possible by attending camp with our students.
Careers Day
Yesterday, our Student Representative Council (SRC) proudly hosted Careers Day. We were fortunate to welcome a range of visitors who volunteered their time to share their experiences, insights, and knowledge about their occupations and career paths.
Our students were highly engaged and asked thoughtful questions, gaining valuable perspectives on the many different opportunities available to them in the future. Events like these spark curiosity and help children begin to imagine the possibilities ahead.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended for making the day so inspiring and informative!
School Land
The lease on the school land has now ended, and we are currently exploring future possibilities for its use.
I’ve recently had many great conversations with members of our school community about how this space could be used moving forward to support educational experiences and outcomes, as well as generate income for future school projects.
We’re excited by the potential this presents and are really interested in hearing everyone's ideas. Our aim is to form a working group made up of staff, families, and community members to help drive the direction of the land and shape a shared vision for its future use.
We will set a date to meet when school returns in Term 2, so if you're interested in being part of this conversation or joining the working group, please reach out—we’d be eager to hear from you!
End of Term 1
It is hard to believe that Term 1 is already coming to an end. It has been a positive start to the year, with routines and structures well established, providing a strong foundation for our students. The children have shown notable growth in their learning, continually value-adding to their skills and knowledge. I trust everyone will enjoy a well-earned break and return recharged for the challenges and opportunities of Term 2.
