Principals Report

Term 4

Term 4 is an exciting time of the year. Students are busy accessing a variety of learning opportunities, the weather improves making outside time comfortable and enjoyable, and the lead up to Christmas is full of joy and happiness. Our students access their swimming and water safety programs, and we celebrate student Growth, Connection, Courage, Responsibility and Respect, that has been achieved throughout the 2024 school year. Our Grade 6 students have less than 8 weeks left of Primary School, and while they are completing their final term positively, they are accessing transition programs preparing them for High School next year.

Tas Bash - Variety

We were lucky to have Tas Bash visit our school last week. The generosity shown by the drivers and their teams was overwhelming. They created smiles on every student’s face, making them laugh or feel lucky enough to receive some nick-knacks from them. They delivered a very important message about supporting children that are not as fortunate as us, and about their fundraising efforts to help them have a happy life. Students dressed up in crazy clothes and wore crazy hair. Students donated a gold coin towards Variety and impressively raised $288! Tas Bash were thrilled with this donation and the generosity of our students.

Tas Bash have helped our school purchase a Gaga-Pit for our school. This will be another piece of equipment for students to access during break times in the playground. The Gaga-Pit is an enclosed space for students to play a version of dodgeball in a safe and fun way. Thank you Variety for your kindness, we know our students have years of enjoyment to look forward to due to your generosity.

Pre-Kinder

Pre-Kinder children will begin their transition to school next Friday morning, helping them to be as prepared as possible for the start of Kindergarten in 2025. It is an exciting time for these children and their families, and we look forward to welcoming them into our school. If you are aware of any children that are turning 5 next year and planning to attend Boat Harbour Primary School, please encourage them to join us next Friday morning at 9:00am in the Kinder building. This Pre-Kinder program will run for the next 5 weeks at this same time.

School Association

The Boat Harbour Primary School Association met in week 2 this Term, and I was extremely pleased with the inclusive nature of the Association. Robust, inviting discussions were held about a variety of topics. A hot topic was ensuring that our school, including all students, parents and community members, feel welcome and safe at Boat Harbour Primary School. I take my responsibility to provide a safe and happy learning environment for all students extremely seriously. Please always feel welcome to talk with me about this, especially if I need to be aware of something to help achieve this. I loved hearing from Association members that they are determined to make all parents feel welcome. It was acknowledged that parents can help in many different ways across the school, and that this is valued and appreciated. Please always feel welcome to join the school Parents and Friends, any support you can give allows our school to be the connected, vibrant and inclusive space that we are driven for it to be.

School Community Support

We receive support from members of our school community in many ways. This is achieved through people giving their time, making things for our school, helping with fundraising, donating to raffles, providing cooking, contributing to BBQ’s, volunteering, being members of committees, parent help, donations – items or money, Breakfast Club, etc. Any way that you can assist is greatly appreciated, and this is why we have such a wonderful school. Thank you to Benson’s Landscaping, Dean and Jackie – parents of Indigo and Daisy, who recently donated $2000 to our school. This money has helped enhance our school playground, thank you! Our Breakfast Club is extremely important within our school – so many of our students access it, and it is a massive commitment to those that volunteer their time consistently each week. We recognise that not everyone can help by being at school, but we are so grateful for the items and monetary donations that facilitate the Club. The Rocky Cape Church recently donated $1500 to Breakfast Club, and this will support so many students moving forward, thank you!
