Principals Report

Term 3

We have had a very settled start to Term 3. Routines and expectations are engrained, allowing teaching and learning to be our focus from day one. It is a credit to staff and students for enabling this to be our continual direction, creating a safe and supportive environment that is conducive to high quality learning. We are extremely fortunate to have what we do on our little ‘island’ of a school :)

Every school day matters!

The Department recognises the massive impact attendance has in regard to student academic and social growth.  Currently at Boat Harbour Primary School, we are creating a model that enables attendance to be maximised, supports families, and ensures accuracy in the way that attendance is recorded. A key element of this is clear communication, and we are continually refining the way that this is achieved. We want families to be able to share with us why students may not be attending and do everything that we can to support them. We are open to feedback about how this could be achieved, recognising that at times this can be contextual, and that different mechanisms are necessary to maximise communication with different families. Our overall attendance rate at Boat Harbour is currently sitting at 88% for the year so far, we aim to have this above 90%.

Attendance at school is essential to help students achieve and be their best.  Continuity in their learning and social engagement is essential to their growth.

Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn and grow, and connect with their mates and teachers. It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most.

With an education, anything can happen. By going to school every day, your child will increase their options in a big way.

Please ensure that you inform the school office of any changes to the people you have given permission to collect your child/ren from school. This is essential in helping keep all students safe and in the care of the people you want them to be in.

Straw Bales

Thank you so much to the Roberts Thomson, Sadler and Wade families for donating and transporting the big rectangle bales for our students to play on. There is not a recess or lunch that they are not played on.  Girls and Boys from Kinder to Grade 6 are always jumping and playing on them, we are extremely grateful for your generosity, THANK YOU!!
