Colonisation in 5/6W
In 5/6W we have been learning about colonisation in HASS. We have been looking at how the landscape of Sydney Cove has changed drastically since the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788. In small groups, students were given the task of creating a 3D model replica of Sydney Cove from their chosen time period. We had some groups create the landscape prior to settlement, where there were many natural features, and the land was home to the Indigenous Australians. Others chose to look at a time period between the 1800’s and 1900’s where the development of more industrialised buildings had begun, as well as roads and more modern ships and freight carriers. Some groups showed what Sydney Cove (Circular Quay) looks like now – a bustling city with skyscrapers and cruise ships!
