Principal's Report
School Opening Times
A reminder to everyone that the school opening times for students is 8:30am. Before this time is important meeting scheduled for teachers, as well as planning and preparation time for learning. This means that teachers are not always in their classrooms before this time, and as a result their duty of care for students does not start until after 8:30am.
To ensure your child’s safety please do not drop them at school until this time.
Whole school Assembly
Next Thursday, 4th July, we will be holding a whole school assembly at 9:15am to celebrate student learning. We hope to see you there.
Parent Teacher Meetings
It has been fantastic to have parents in our school discussing student learning with their child’s teacher this week. If you were unable to schedule a parent teacher meeting this week, please feel welcome to reach out to your child’s teacher to catch up.
Pink Day
Pink Day will be held on the last day of Term to help promote awareness of cancer and to raise money to go towards treatment and research to find a cure. The SRC are asking students to wear pink on the day and to bring along a gold coin donation. Pink cupcakes will be available to purchase for $2 and tickets for a raffle (flowers, chocolates and a surprise!!) available too.
Student Free Day
Student Free Days are important days for schools to continue to grow and improve. Two weeks ago, staff participated in a moderation day. Teachers from Yolla and Table Cape Primary School, joined us at Boat Harbour Primary to work collaboratively to moderate student evidence of learning. While this supports teachers in their understanding of assessment and the Australian Curriculum, it also ensures consistency of achievement standards across schools. Teachers justify why certain assessments have been given, share ideas about task design, and provide each other with feedback about future teaching and student needs.
We are extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated and driven staff at Boat Harbour Primary School. I feel empowered knowing that our students are in such good hands.
