Principals Report

Library

I am extremely grateful that we thrive in a community that values and embraces reading.  With every opportunity to read our children increase their ability to access information and stories and the ability to open the world for themselves.  Thank you for the additional reading you encourage and support at home, the impact this has on your child’s decoding, fluency and comprehension is significant.  Please keep encouraging reading at home for all ages, Kinder to Grade 6.  If this is sometimes a bit of a grind at home, always chat with your child’s teacher to discuss strategies to make it a little easier.

The recent book fair was a massive success! Collectively 200+ books were purchased, and this also raised enough money for the school to purchase an additional 100+ books. Having this many extra books available to students and in their hands is simply wonderful.

Grade 6 Camp

Last week our Grade 6 students went on their camp.  Students stayed for two nights at the Hagley School farm, and in Hobart for two nights. They accessed a huge range of activities and were extremely busy for the week. I was incredibly impressed with the manner our students conducted themselves, with teachers and our school often contacted by facilitators of activities and members of the community, complimenting our students on their behaviour, manners and respect. Please take the opportunity to discuss the camp with Grade 6 students and hear about their busy week.

A massive thank you to staff who gave up their time to make this week happen.  The organisation necessary is time consuming, let alone putting your own lives on hold for the week.  Staff recognise the magnitude camp can have on each student and for different reasons.  We are grateful that our Grade 6 students have this opportunity.

Lego

Our students have recently designed incredible lego creations through drawing. The meticulous detail that is evident highlights the many creative minds across our school. I can’t wait to see what students actually make when it is time to present their lego master pieces!

School Association Nominations

Coming home next week is a nomination form for our Association. If you would like to be a voice on the School Association and assist in the direction of Boat Harbour Primary School, then please nominate for a position on the Association. We are hoping to form a group of people with varying thoughts on a range of topics across our school. The Association meets only twice each term. We look forward to respectufully debating pathways for our school's future.

Cross Country

Last week our Grade 3 – 6 representatives travelled to Ulverstone to compete in the North West Cross Country Championship.
