Science in 2LC
In Science, grade 2s have been exploring how materials can be physically changed, without changing their composition. We have explored this in the experiment ‘The Bouncy egg’. We predicted what we thought might change and observed these over several days, noting down what we could see. Some predicted the egg in vinegar would bounce but the egg in toothpaste would be stronger and not bounce. What happened, the vinegar egg was bouncy and the egg in toothpaste was changed inside but not bouncy.
“The vinegar is white but has brown bubbles on top” Sam.
“The egg in toothpaste absorbed some of the toothpaste, its stronger” Sahara.
“The egg was on the bottom of the jar and is now floating” Nate.
“The egg in vinegar has increased in size” Edward.
“The toothpaste isn’t bouncy” Kyah.
“The egg is stronger as it didn’t break on the first drop” Will.
“If not in the toothpaste it would have broken quicker” Max.
The membrane from the vinegar egg, “ it feels like a balloon” Maddie.
