Principal Report
As we embrace the final stretch of the year, Term 4 marks a pivotal period for our students to consolidate their learning achievements. This term serves as a platform for students to reinforce concepts covered, fostering a deep understanding of the subjects they’ve explored throughout the year. As we observe the culmination of their efforts, it’s a chance for us to celebrate the resilience and commitment to continuous growth demonstrated by our students.
PAT Testing
Students have just completed end of year PAT testing. These assessments provide a snapshot of individual student progress across key learning areas. By evaluating students' knowledge and skills, the tests not only measure academic growth over the year but also identify areas where additional support or enrichment may be needed. This information is used with other assessments collected throughout the year, along with informal evidence collected by the teacher to inform your child’s assessment rating for their EOY Report. As always, if you would like to discuss your child’s results, please make contact as we are always happy to discuss this further with you.
At this point in the year, we are also busily planning for 2024. This information serves as a valuable resource for us, offering insights into curriculum effectiveness and helping tailor instructional strategies. This information, in turn, contributes to informed decision-making for curriculum development, resource allocation, and personalised learning plans, ensuring a targeted and effective educational experience for every student.
Kinder- Grade 2 Swimming
Our Kinder to Grade 2 students will be participating in swimming in week 6. Building water awareness and safety in our children is essential, particularly given the environment we live in. Our community is surrounded with dams, rivers, creeks and the coastline – these lessons assist our students in being safe within our community. We are fortunate to be able to offer this additional program in our school pool with AustSwim Qualified Instructors. Parents are most welcome to come and spectate if they wish, however, please be mindful not to take any photos while the children are in the pool.
Basketball Systems
If you've visited the playground lately, you've likely observed the recent installation of our new basketball systems, which are now bringing daily enjoyment to our students. These systems are fully adjustable, enabling all students to practise their shooting skills from different heights. What makes them especially exciting is their design, specifically built to accommodate slam dunks. A big thank you to the dads that assisted in their installation, we are extremely fortunate to have such a connected school community willing to share their expertise and equipment.
Assemblies
Our Mid-Term Assembly will be held this Thursday, 16th November at 9:15am. This will be a whole-school assembly with students from Kinder to Grade 6 attending. Assemblies are a fantastic opportunity to showcase learning and celebrate student achievements. We hope to see you there!
Our End of Year Celebration and Leavers Assemblies will be held on Friday, 15th December. The Kinder to Grade 2 assembly will take place in the morning at 9:15am, followed by the Grade 3 to 5 students and our Grade 6 Leavers at 11:15am. We look forward to celebrating a wonderful year of learning and growth with you, as well as farewelling our leaders of the school, our Grade 6s.
Pre-Kinder
Pre-Kinder has started, and it's truly exciting to witness the enthusiastic children and so many families attend each session. The Pre-Kinder program serves as a valuable opportunity for our 2024 Kinders to familiarise themselves with their teacher and the classroom setting, facilitating a smoother transition to school next year. Additionally, it provides a platform for the children to develop friendships and practice separating from their parents or caregivers. If you know any children in our school community that were born in 2019 and the family is yet to make contact with the school, please encourage them to do so or come and discuss with us how we can best support the enrolment. We want to give every child the opportunity to access Pre-Kinder!
Welcome back Mr Brown!
At the beginning of week 6, we look forward to welcoming Mr Brown back to school and I will resume my role as AST. Mr. Brown is excited to reunite with everyone, eager to catch up on student learning and progress that occurred during his absence. We're eagerly anticipating the return of Mr Brown to school…even his bad dad jokes!
