Physical Sciences in Prep
During our Physical Sciences inquiry, we have explored the forces of push and pull and other ways objects can move such as rolling and sliding. We made our own racetracks and pushed balls of different sizes so they rolled from start to finish. Then, Mrs Baker posed a question…
Mrs B - “What happens if you don’t push the ball?”
F - “It doesn’t move. We need to push it.”
Mrs B - “Do you think there is a way to get your ball to move without you pushing it?”
J - “A hill!”
A - “It needs an angle!”
O - “A slide or a ramp!”
A - “The object needs to be circular though.”
T – “Yeah, because flat things don’t roll.”
Out we went to investigate all the ramps, slides and hills we could find before proceeding to create our very own by putting pieces together and creating pathways. This was an exciting way to share questions, predictions, observations and ideas with our classmates!
