Principal's Report

Welcome Spring

It is with excitement that we welcome the change in season. It is a time of renewal and growth, as nature awakens from its slumber, bringing forth a burst of colour and life. Much like the classroom, in Term 3 we see students flourish as newly developed skills in the first half of the year are consolidated and now transferable to new contexts. We are fortunate to have a hardworking staff that provide a variety of high-quality experiences for our students. We hope that you are enjoying the regular Seesaw posts and that they provide insight as to what your child has been up to in class thus far. As always, if you need help connecting to your child’s journal, please contact the school.

Book Week

We recently celebrated Book Week and held our Annual Book Parade. It was fantastic to see a large array of colour and creative costumes across the school. The aim of the annual celebration across Australia is to promote a love of books and storytelling among children and adults alike. Thank you to those parents and community members who attended the parade, it was great to see so many of you support the event. Our students love the opportunity to share with you!

Student Well-Being Survey

In Week 8, from Monday, 11th to Friday, 15th September, students in Grade 4-6 will take part in the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey. This helps us to get a picture of the current wellbeing of our students, and what we can do to improve future wellbeing. All student responses are anonymous. No one (including school staff) will use the results to identify individual students.

A letter was sent home with each Grade 4-6 student earlier this week. If you do not wish to have your child participate, please return the form included in the letter back to school before Monday, 11th September.

Parent Satisfaction Surveys

Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.

We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Boat Harbour Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making.

The survey is open until Friday 22 September 2023 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.

The survey link has been sent via Family Announcements on Seesaw.

Thank you to those parents that have already completed the parent satisfaction surveys, your time and feedback are greatly appreciated. We look forward to using your feedback to help guide the future direction and priorities of our school.

NAPLAN

In recent weeks, NAPLAN results for Grade 3 and 5 students were sent home. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the results further, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. It is important to note that NAPLAN is just one measure of a student’s progress and abilities, it should not be viewed as the sole indicator of a child’s academic performance and potential. Staff will use this as one-piece information combined with other assessment opportunities to help track student progress and identify key areas of learning to focus on and maintain.

Carpark

As you would all be aware, the carpark is a very busy space at our school. We ask that everyone is mindful when driving in the carpark at drop off and pick up time of pedestrians and that we give way at the crossing pictured below. At the end of the day, if you wish to pick your child up in the pick-up zone, please do not get out of your car. Once safe to do so, your child will be sent to the car. This will allow the line of traffic to flow and stop the congestion and cars banked up on the highway. We appreciate your understanding with this. Together, we can ensure the safety of our school’s carpark.

 CONGRATULATIONS!

In recent weeks, we have had 3 students represent Tasmania interstate. Harry and Ellie competed in Canberra at the Australian Cross Country Champs and Samantha in Adelaide at the Gymnastics Bigham Cup. This is an exceptional achievement and a testament to the dedication and commitment of these three students. They remind us that success in sports is not just about talent but also about the relentless pursuit of excellence. We are very proud of their achievements, each of these three students consistently display our school values in their sporting fields of Growth, Aspiration, Courage and Respect to an exemplary level. Well done, Harry, Ellie and Samantha!
