Welcome Back :)
Third Term is always a wonderful time in the school year – students come back fresh from holidays knowing exactly what they need to do and what our routines and expectations are, the sun brings a little more warmth and the trees find their leaves again. Towards the end of Term information regarding parent teacher meetings will be sent home, we are always eager to communicate with families to help support your child in anyway that we can. Please always feel welcome to make contact with me or your child’s teacher about their learning.
After School Arrangements
The end of the school day is always an extremely busy time. Our school is unique in that every single child is either collected in a car or catches a bus. Making sure your child is the right place or on the correct bus is clearly of the utmost importance. To allow this to happen, please contact the school before 2:30pm each day to make any changes to after school arrangements. This allows us to get messages to staff and students to ensure they are in the right places to get where they need to be safely. Thank you for your help and understanding.
Playground Equipment
Students and staff have been finalising their ideas and feedback regarding our new playground equipment. Final decisions will be made soon and an order placed. It is exciting that in 4th Term it should arrive and begin to be assembled.
Talent Show
Boat Harbour has got talent!! Our students showcased their talents on Friday afternoon. We saw a broad range of talent from participants including, singing, dancing, gymnastics, magic tricks, telling jokes and much more. I love the courage and confidence students displayed while on stage performing for us. Well done to everyone who entered!
Art Exhibition
In week 5 the Boat Harbour Primary School Art Exhibition will be on display in the school hall. This is always a massive representation of the incredible creative skills from across our school. The time and effort from all involved to create and showcase the artistic attributes of students is outstanding. We invite you to take the time to enjoy the exhibition during week 5.
Book Week
We will celebrate Book Week at our assembly in week 5. Students are invited to dress up as a character from a book on Friday 25th of August. Parents are invited to join us and celebrate books and a love of reading with us, with students parading their creativeness and character impersonations. We will be holding a whole-school parade at 9:00am on the top asphalt area and we would love you to join us. Hope to see you there!
Weeks 6 – 10
During week 6 – 10 I will be on leave and Miss Samantha Hayes will be the Acting Principal during this time. Miss Hayes is an excellent practitioner and will continue to lead the strong pathway and direction of our school during this time.
Students are invited to wear Green & Gold on Wednesday 16th of August in support of the Matilda's as they take on England in the semi-finals of the World Cup!
Learning in Kinder
In Kinder this term we have been learning about Aboriginal people and their culture. We had two special visitors from the Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation come and share their knowledge about how Australian Aboriginals once lived, and we got to view many different items that they would have used in their everyday lives. We also had the opportunity to taste test some pigs face, salt bush and dried seaweed flakes.
The students have also been experimenting with Aboriginal painting techniques, learning about their flag, exploring Aboriginal symbols, listening to Dreamtime stories and learning some words in the local Aboriginal language.
Prep - We are 100 Days Smarter.
We Are 100 Days Smarter!!!
As part of our History learning last term, we identified significant events in our lives and how these are celebrated by our families. As a conclusion to this inquiry students planned a class party to celebrate the milestone of reaching ‘100 Days at School’ for 2023. Students made invitations, planned entertainment, food and decorations. At the top of the list was a cake and disco ball!! We had a great afternoon celebrating with our guests from 1-2KB.
In 1-2CE we have been learning about measurement in Maths. We have been looking at capacity and mass. Capacity is when we look at how much something can hold and when learn about mass, we compare how light or how heavy something is.

In 1-2LE students in HASS have been looking at their environment and particularly constructed, managed, and natural environments. Students were able to explore their school grounds and identify either of the three, then take a photo with their chosen perspective.
They were then asked to add some creativity to their photograph by choosing a shade of black and white, which is currently an art focus. Further discussions about the perspective and medium of choice, engaged the students and they now have a greater understanding and like for black and white affects, for seeing different aspects of the photo, subject, textures, shapes, and patterns, using different mediums like technology, charcoal and black pens.
This term in Science we are focussing on Physical Science. We have started learning about how to make a variety of different sounds as well as how sound travels. We discussed and observed the link between sound and vibrations and how we can use different senses to perceive sound by seeing or feeling objects vibrate. Here are some photos of some experiments we have completed exploring sound.
Boat Harbour Primary School Netball
