Attendance
Thank you to families for doing everything you can to keep our school and community safe while we learn to live with COVID. Practicing healthy COVID practices, including testing and keeping students' home if they are symptomatic is helping prevent the spread of the virus. Please continue to notify the school office if your child is absent and the reason why. Thank you once again, we are extremely fortunate to live in the community that we do.
Athletics carnival
We had hoped to hold our athletics carnival today, however due to so many students being absent at the moment we decided to postpone to later in the school year. The carnival is a highlight on the school calendar, so to have as many students as possible participate and to have parents and spectators present will be positive. The NW athletics carnival is scheduled for the end of the month. If this event is held the Boat Harbour Team will be selected through trials held during PE lessons.
Learning
I have been extremely impressed by the way students and staff have kept their eye on the learning journey during the first 5 weeks of school. I am not surprised that students are engaged, accessing and participating in quality learning opportunities given the way staff work tirelessly to be prepared and organised each day. The calm and safe environment our students access each day enables learning to be maximised, fostering emotional and academic growth. Please always feel welcome to contact me or your child's teacher to discuss their development.

The Prep-1 classes recently combined for a health lesson exploring different foods. We discussed ‘sometimes’ and ‘healthy’ foods and the students were able to give examples of each. The students then had the opportunity to work in pairs to make a poster showing ‘healthy’ and ‘sometimes’ foods. They were able to categorise a range of different foods and give reasons for their decisions. Grade 1 groups also labelled the different foods they drew. Some students then had the opportunity to explain their posters to the whole group. We were really impressed by their knowledge and how well they worked together.
