It has been fantastic to see students return to school with a positive attitude ready to learn. As I visit each of the classrooms I am continually impressed by the level of engagement, and every student striving to do their best. Teachers have worked hard to establish a classroom environment conducive to quality teaching and learning where students feel connected, and their wellbeing supported. The Boat Harbour Primary School community is fortunate to be surrounded with people who are passionate about education and show outstanding commitment to helping students being the best they can be. I look forward to working in partnership with our school community and I am excited by what the rest of the school year will bring.
Athletics Carnival
We will be holding our Athletics Carnival on Thursday 10th of March. This is a date on the calendar that we all look forward to and an opportunity for our students to experience a range of events. If the weather is poor the carnival will be postponed to the following week, Thursday 17th March. If you are available to help on the day, please let the school office know. More information will be available closer to the day.
School Association AGM
The BHPS School Association AGM will be held on Tuesday, 5th April 2022 at 6.30pm. Being a member of the School Association is an excellent way to contribute to the administrative functions and accountabilities of our school. If you would like further information about the Association please contact one of the members to ask any questions.
Covid Update
Due to government changes, visitors to the school are no longer required to check-in using the Check-in TAS app. We do remind volunteers that they must sign in at the school office, show proof of vaccination, and wear a mask at all times when on school grounds. I would like to thank families for remaining vigilant and looking out for Covid-19 symptoms in their children. If your child has used a Rapid Antigen Test, please collect a replacement test from the office. If you are unable to collect a test, please ring the office and we will send one home with your child. Working together will provide the best chance of keeping your children safe and healthy.
Hats
All students need to wear a hat when outdoors in Term 1 as outlined in our Sun Smart Policy. If your child does not have a hat these can be purchased from the school office for $10.00.
Students without a hat are asked to play in the gazebo or Rage Cage. Please remember to clearly name each hat. Thank you for your support in keeping our children sun safe.

In 2/3W we started the year by brightening up our new classroom with some beautiful sunflower art. We were inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s famous sunflower paintings. We focused on drawing a close-up section of a sunflower and practiced using different techniques with chalk and oil pastels. We found it really interesting how we all followed the same step-by-step instructions to create our piece, but they all ended up looking so different and unique. Here are some of our beautiful sunflowers:
Grade 3-4E are reading the Tim Winton novel 'Blueback' this term. It's a book about fish, friendships, love and loss.
Students are creating their own fabulous fish and learning to make a 'wash' to make their paintings look watery.
3-4M are learning about Australia, identifying states, territories and their capitals. We are also looking at the oceans surrounding Australia. Here's a sample of our beautiful work.
Vison and hearing screening for all primary students are also available on request if there is a specific concern passed on via the parent, teacher or senior staff. Consent forms must be signed by a parent/guardian prior to all assessments, including kindergarten health assessments.
Please feel free to visit me for a chat or contact me via the school office on a Thursday if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child’s health or the role of the School Health Nurse. I hope that your child/ren have had a positive start to the school year!
