Book Week
Book Week is a wonderful opportunity each year to share and promote a love of reading. Reading is a gateway to learning and allows students to build creativity while learning how to access information and become life long learners. One way this is celebrated is for students to dress up as a character from a book they have read. The costumes from students this year were fantastic, highlighting the broad range of books students are reading. Thank you to parents for supporting your child’s participation, and more importantly those that make the time to read with their child as often as they can. Well done everyone, you looked fantastic!
Art Exhibition
We are looking forward to the annual Boat Harbour Primary School Art Exhibition where the art skills of every student across our school will be on display. We are so very fortunate to be surrounded with staff that continue to foster a proud history in the Arts at our school, challenging themselves and students to be creative and access a variety of mediums. The Art Exhibition will be held in week 9 Term 3, starting on Monday 13th September and concluding on Saturday 18th September. During the week and on the Saturday, parents are welcome to visit and explore the art extravaganza. We request that when you visit that you check in with the Check in TAS App and follow COVID hygiene practices.
On Thursday, 16th September at 12:15pm after the school cross country, the official opening of the Exhibition will be held in the School Hall. This will be an opportunity to formally celebrate the creativity of each of our students, we hope you can join us!
Cross Country
Our school Cross Country will be held in week 9, on Thursday, 16th September. This will be an opportunity for students to participate and try their best. For those that enjoy competing in running, they will be able to challenge themselves and race against their fellow grade members. This is a great event that brings our school community together, celebrating those students that perform strongly at long distance running and all students for participating. If you are available to come along to support our students, you are very welcome to join us. You are invited to attend the opening of our Art Exhibition directly after the Cross Country at 12:15pm in the school hall.

Surveys
Each year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys in Tasmanian Government schools, to gain feedback on what you think our schools do well and where you think we may improve.
We encourage you to complete the survey about Boat Harbour Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making.
You can complete the online survey at any time until Friday, 17th September 2021.The survey link will be sent home with the youngest in the family today.
All responses are anonymous and confidential with the survey carried out on a secure website.
Feedback is only accessible to the school principal, teachers and relevant Department of Education staff, in online summary report formats with no individuals or families identifiable.
For any assistance please contact Education Performance and Review by emailing: schoolsurveys@education.tas.gov.au.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.

1-2H & 1-2W
Grade 1-2W and 1-2H have begun weekly STEM challenges with the aim to build teamwork, leadership and problem solving skills. The challenge last week was to work to create 4 paper airplanes to fly for different purposes.
Round 1 – Target Round – The plane has to land as close to the ‘x’ as possible. Well done Margot for landing so close!
Round 2 – Hang-time Round – The plane that stays in the air for the longest time.
Round 3 – Accuracy Round – Closest to land in the middle of the ‘runway’.
Round 4 – Distance Round – Plane that flew the furthest.
Congratulations to Drew, Jalen, Alya and Margot for coming in first place in the challenge!

1-2LM & 1-2 ME
What an exciting and productive few weeks we have had in art in 1-2 LM and 1-2 ME! Students have been learning about Islamic geometric patterns, how to draw and construct their own geometric designs and how to tessellate them together to make new patterns and amazing art. All students should be very proud of their beautiful artworks, their perseverance, attention to detail and most importantly the support and encouragement they gave each other!!

A new option has been added to Qkr! to enable general payments to be made to canteen. This may be helpful for parents who perhaps miss the Qkr! order deadline and ring in to order lunch for their child, which they can pay directly through the app. Alternatively, this option could be used to pay for food that has been provided, for whatever reason, to their child.
