Car Park
Recently our school carpark had some new line markings put down to help alleviate the lack of parking available at morning drop off and afternoon collect times.
We request all traffic enter through the school main entrance off the Bass Highway and exit through Dobson's Lane. This will allow traffic to flow easily and keep students and parents safe. There are now parallel parking spaces along the area normally used for pick up times. These drop off / collect spaces are designed for you to stop, either to drop off or collect your child (helping them if required) and to keep moving once they have either entered the school grounds safely or are securely in the car with you. This process is similar to an airport drop off and collection process.
You are still welcome to walk your child into school or collect them from the garden area, but ask for you to park in the main carpark when doing this.
The new drop off / collect car spaces may be used for parking between 9.15am - 2.30pm.
Upgrades
With recent carpark changes and playground markings, we have also had new rock edging and pathways improved. Our library has received new shelving and blinds and will soon have a new work station and carpet installed. The Rage Cage has had maintenance work carried out, the canteen a new bench and heating improvements across the school. These upgrades help ensure our school is safe and vibrant, providing a quality learning environment for your child/ren.
Bus Safety
There have been reports of students crossing the Bass highway and other roads unnecessarily at bus stops, particularly if a student has missed the bus for any reason. Please talk with your child about safety around roads, especially busses to help keep everyone safe.

Kinder
Kinders had a great time making apple donuts. We shared a story about a little red house with a chimney and a star inside, which the children were surprised to discover was a red apple. When the core is cut, you can see a star shape where the seeds are!
Kinders re-told the story; sharing their thoughts and ideas. They cooperated and helped each other and showed creativity in their decorating skills. Then the best part…eating the donuts!
Prep KC & Prep W
What’s it Made of?
This term in Science, Prep KC and Prep W have been investigating different types of materials, their properties and their uses. Students have made observations using their senses and grouped materials based on the properties of the materials, such as sharp, blunt, bumpy, shiny, dull etc. The students explored which objects were made from particular materials, and the reasons behind the use of those materials over others. They have experimented with different materials to test how water resistant they are. The students then designed and built boats using materials of their choice and tested to see if their boats would not only float, but be water resistant. Students then investigated the strength of certain materials by seeing how much weight each material could bear. They then used this knowledge to design a house for The Three Little Pigs, with the intention of it being strong enough to withstand the ‘huff and puff’ of the Big Bad Wolf. Both classes had a lot of hands-on fun exploring, creating and testing the materials.
We wish both Junior and Senior Choirs all the best next week as they perform at the Burnie City Eisteddfod being held at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre Town Hall.
Junior Choir: Monday, 21st June 10:15am
Senior Choir: Tuesday, 22nd June 11:30am
A reminder that all choir members need to be neatly dressed in their winter school uniform on their choir performance day. A short-sleeved school polo top is required as jumpers will be taken off to perform.
If you wish your child to receive a special Burnie Eisteddfod merit certificate, please send $1.00 in an envelope with your child’s name on it and state which choir to the school office by the end of the term. Mrs Matic will organise these certificates over the holidays to be received early Term 3.
Both choirs will be performing at the end of term assemblies.

From time to time, children come to the office because their expected lunch order has not arrived in their classroom at lunch time.
After investigation it is often discovered that their parent or guardian has ordered for the wrong day or has put the order through but the payment hasn't been finalised on the Qkr! app.
Unfortunately, as we are unaware until lunchtime that there is a problem, the canteen may not be able to fill all of your child's order exactly, as canteen staff only cook what they know has been ordered. They will, however, offer your child a toasted sandwich.
To avoid disappointment, please check that you are ordering for the correct date, and that payment has been processed - option to view receipt will come up on the screen if order has been finalised.
If you recognise any of these items in lost property can you please collect them from the office.
