Welcome back to Term 2! We have had a fantastic start to the Term with learning routines taking off from day one. Our school jumpers look fantastic and are certainly doing a great job keeping students warm when tackling the recent chilly mornings.
Last week our Grade 6 students travelled the state for the week while on their school camp. This is always a highlight for students in their final year of primary school and it was wonderful to hear how well they represented our school while accessing so many different opportunities while in and around Launceston and Hobart. Multiple times every day staff were approached from service providers or members of the public to compliment students on their behaviour, manners and positive attitudes. Thank you to Mrs Wilson, Miss Nicholls and Mr Groenewege for giving your time to provide this opportunity for our students, you helped create memories for students that they will look back at fondly well into the future.
At the beginning of Term 2 it was confirmed that Miss Georgette Moore has accepted a permanent assignment of duties at Burnie Primary School. Miss Moore has held a number of roles across Boat Harbour Primary School during a very long and committed 17 year period. Whether it was as a Kinder teacher, a member of Senior Staff, Support teacher, Advanced Skills Teacher, Flying Start teacher, Early Childhood teacher or Acting Principal, students and families have always valued the care and dedication Miss Moore has demonstrated to supporting student learning. Congratulations on such a significant contribution to our wonderful school Miss Moore, we wish you all the best at your new school.

Principal
Last week the Grade 6 students travelled to Launceston and Hobart as part of their school camp.
To begin the camp students visited the Cataract Gorge and Hollybank Treetop Adventures. After an overnight stay at Penny Royal, students made their way to Hobart, where they enjoyed a visit to Mt Wellington, Bounce Trampolining Centre, Tenpin Bowling and the Cascade Female Factory. A highlight of the week was the trip to Port Arthur, along with feeding the lion at ZooDoo. All students represented Boat Harbour to a very high standard and many of the community groups commented on their terrific behaviour and use of manners.
Miss Nicholls, Mrs Wilson, Mr Brown and Mr Groenewege would like to congratulate all participating students for demonstrating growth and resilience through trying new things and the support they showed each other.
Last week our hoodies arrived and they look amazing! We have filled all the orders that were paid for and have very limited stock left for purchase.
You can purchase hoodies on the Qkr! app or from the office. When purchasing on the app please be aware that we can only fill the orders until there is no stock remaining.
Another order for hoodies is underway with delivery expected in early Term 3. If you have ordered on Qkr! and we cannot fill your order now, it will go on backorder till the new hoodies arrive in Term 3.
Bank books will be returned in the grey banking bag to the classrooms on Wednesday ready to be sent home with children that afternoon. The new deposit balance should appear in account balance by Thursday.
Coming into the cold and flu season, it’s important that we all continue to keep healthy and safe. To ensure we can keep on top of COVID and also cold and flu, make sure you:
- Be alert to any symptoms of cold or flu that you or your child may exhibit
- Get tested for COVID if you or your child have symptoms
- Practise good hygiene, such as covering coughs and sneezes and washing hands
- If you or your child do get sick, stay at home until symptoms has passed, even if a COVID test is negative
Remember, symptoms include fever, tiredness, cough, headache, sore throat, sniffling and sneezing.
To keep our school safe, we are still:
- continuing with increased cleaning
- making sure there is plenty of soap, sanitiser and tissues available
- applying restrictions to large gatherings of adults and encouraging physical distancing
- requiring visitors to check-in on our sites
