We can’t wait to have students back!

Staff are excited to have students returning to school on Monday.  All Kinder to Grade 6 students will join their classmates back in their classrooms to reconnect and continue their learning journey.  Thank you to parents and carers for the fantastic job you have done to support your child’s learning at home, teachers are fully aware of the challenges this different way of learning presented. We are eager to continue to support every student with their parents as we know that this allows your child to become the best that they can be. I encourage you to continue to stay connected with your child’s teacher, working together to support their development via SeeSaw, email, phone call or whatever other platform that allows you to be connected.  A key focus for next week will be supporting students to reconnect at school and renew relationships.  Student wellbeing at this time is a priority and the catalyst for their happiness and for learning to be maximised.

Physical distancing

As students return to school next Monday, Public Health advice is clear - schools are safe to be open.  This is because we have a low rate of COVID-19 community spread in Tasmania and there has been expanded testing.  To reduce the risk even further, schools have hygiene and physical distancing measures in place.  We ensure the safety of students by ensuring physical distancing for students, staff and parents.  Recess and lunch will be at different times for Kinder to Grade 2 and Grade 3 to 6 students.  Stop, Drop and Go is a message we will hear a lot moving forward.  We ask that parents dropping their kids at school say their goodbyes at the school gates and go, so that we do not have large numbers of adults congregating in the car park.  If you need to talk to your child’s teacher, please call the school office on 6445  1187 or make contact via SeeSaw or email.  Thank you for those parents that have been collecting their child of an afternoon in the designated space at the Japanese Garden and leaving as soon as their child arrives preventing a large group of people gathering.  Your understanding helps ensure safety for all, thank you.

Hygiene

Hygiene at school will remain a focus.  Ensuring students wash their hands throughout the school day is a key aspect of this.  Hard surfaces including desks, door handles, light switches and frequently used equipment are cleaned and disinfected multiple times a day.  Toilets are also cleaned regularly throughout the day and students do not share equipment where practical.  We have extra cleaners at the school throughout the week while this level of hygiene is necessary.

We want to make school as safe as possible for everyone.  Feel free to ask questions if you require any further information.  These things won’t be forever, but we all have a shared responsibility to act in a way that supports everyone being safe.  We look forward to seeing all students next week!

School is returning on Monday 25th May 2020. Please contact the school to confirm your child/children's after school arrangements for Term 2.

Now the weather is wet, can you please ensure your child/children have a spare pair of clothes in their bags in case they get wet or dirty.

Reminder to all students returning next week to bring back all school books, library books and home readers that were taken home.

Brixhibition is going ahead this year!! More information will be sent out soon -  start planning your creations now!

Breakfast Club will continue from next week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at this stage. Free toast, with a selection of different spreads, will be available, with fruit to be re-introduced in coming weeks.

Hot milo may be purchased from the canteen before school on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only for $0.50c.

Thank you to our parent helpers who have volunteered to keep this program running for our students, but they need more help!

We would like to be able to offer at Breakfast Club on at least one, if not two extra days each week.  If you can be available for about an hour, 8.15am - 9.15am, on one or more mornings each week, or on a rotational basis, please contact the school.

It is a requirement that all volunteers in our school have current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).  If you would like to assist with this program but are not registered, please find below instructions to assist you to apply for registration. Please ensure you add Boat Harbour Primary School as a place you volunteer.

A named, size 12 soft shell jacket is missing. Could parents please check the names on your children's jackets in case there has been a mixup. 

There is a box of lost property left over from last term at the office. If you have lost something, please check this box.
