Happy Easter everyone! With school holidays upon us, I would like to wish you all a safe and restful break. As life is quite different at the moment, it will be a holiday like no other, however I sincerely hope you get the space and time to relax and enjoy the opportunity to be with your family.
I look forward to continuing our work together in Term 2, be it in a different form to what we could have ever predicted. Our strength at Boat Harbour Primary School continues to be our people and the power of our connectedness. Thank you for the contribution you have all made in this space, as we make every effort to ensure our students are safe, well, and engaged in learning, no matter where they are.
It is widely understood that this is very much not business as usual and that the future presents challenges, as well as opportunities. I could not be more impressed and inspired to see and hear how your teachers here at Boat Harbour Primary are embracing new learning to ensure all our students continue to receive both the support and opportunities they need heading into a different Term 2.
Having said this, it is important that we are realistic in our expectations and accept that things won’t be perfect (this won’t be for lack of trying), but through working together, we can and will continue to grow and collectively support each other, students and families. As a combination of online and hands on resources are accessed from home in Term 2, please communicate with your child’s teacher as regularly as you need. We are determined to support you and your child as best we can and clear communication will enable this.
Monday 27th April, the first day of Term 2 is a student free day, allowing teachers to be prepared for learning in this new way. In line with previous correspondence to parents, schools will remain open for students in Term 2 where parents or carers are unable to support or supervise their child/ren’s learning at home. Students learning from the school site will access the same learning as those students at home. If you plan to send your child to school please contact the school at least 24 hours prior to allow appropriate planning to be put in place.
Keep safe everyone, I am already looking forward to hearing from students and families as we head into Term 2, ready to learn together!
Weekly specials for Term 2 are not as yet available.
Specials will be advertised on SZapp at the start of term for the first week.
Message from Commonwealth Bank
The health, safety and wellbeing of our communities and our people remains our highest priority. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding coronavirus, the School Banking program will remain on hold. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed with any updates including how we will be managing Dollarmite tokens for students.
In the meantime, here are some handy online resources for parents who wish to maintain momentum with their child’s financial education:
- Start Smart: these resources have been created to improve children’s money management skills, and is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and the National Consumer Financial Literacy Framework.
- The Beanstalk: offers videos and fun activities for children to learn about money.
Please note that due to the current situation with coronavirus, our school playground is not open to the public for use outside school hours.
