Thank you to everyone for the way that you are supporting Boat Harbour Primary School during these unprecedented times. Parents, students and staff are all playing an incredibly important role to enable our school community to continue to be a vibrant, happy learning environment for all. I am so grateful for the efforts and resilience everyone has shown; this ability to care for each other and make the best of these challenging circumstance is inspiring. At school we continue to focus on keeping students safe and connected, while keeping familiar routines and processes in place. Complementing this a strong focus on hygiene, with extra resources for students to regularly wash their hands throughout the day, while extra cleaning staff are on site enabling hard surfaces to be cleaned multiple times per day. Staggering break times and tweaking programs are enabling us to proactively ensure hygiene is maximised while having as little impact on learning as possible.
Parents continue to have my full support as they make the best possible choices they can for their children. The dilemma for many about sending children to school or keeping them home is complex. I encourage you to do what you feel is right for you and your family; we will support you with whatever the decision is that you make. Every family's context is different, impacting the choices you make. Students that attend school are always more than welcome and we look forward to seeing you each day so that we can continue to guide your learning and development. I assure you that while students are at school they are surrounded by a school full of staff that continue to provide a safe, vibrant, happy, connected learning environment for all.
For families that are in the position to keep their children home, embrace this time with your kids. Use this time to support their learning in different ways. Teachers have sent home a variety of ideas of what you could do with your children during this time, but these are a guide only. Currently teachers are busy teaching the day to day curriculum and associated programs to students at school. As we head towards the end of term teachers will have a greater amount of dedicated time to put home learning opportunities together for students.
I love the way that the Boat Harbour Primary School community continues to embrace the challenges of each new day, supporting each other to enable kids to be safe, happy and the best they can be. Always feel welcome to call me if you need to discuss your child’s learning.
End of term dates
In a letter that was sent home yesterday with students from the Education Minister, Jeremy Rockliff and Secretary of the Department Tim Bullard, it was shared that the start of the school holidays will be Monday 6th April. Teachers will be at school during this week to prepare online learning material for students to access if required heading into Term 2.
A tub has been placed in the foyer at the school office for the return of library books and home readers that students who are absent for the rest of term may have at home.
Books can be dropped off between 9.00am - 3.00pm Monday to Friday.
Yesterday 25th March we had Red and Pink Day. Students came dressed in red or pink for a gold coin donation. Thanks to everyone we raised $275.40. The money we raised is going towards buying a defibrillator for our school. What an excellent cause!
Thank you so much to all students, staff, and parents for helping us raise this money. We would like to give a special thanks to Mrs Bowers for helping the SRC create some biscuits to sell in the canteen.
Charlie, SRC Representative.
Week 9
With it becoming more difficult to source some supplies for the school canteen, please be aware that some menu items may be impossible to provide. This includes milk and fruit drinks, as well as some basic staples.
I will do my best to continue to provide your children with the best quality food that I can, within these shortages.
My wonderful volunteers and I appreciate your understanding.
Sue Bowers
Canteen Supervisor
